According to German officials, approximately 200 football matches across Europe are being investigated for match fixing and corruption. Some of these are believed to be Champions League games. It is alleged that players, coaches and referees have been involved in taking bribes to fix the results of matches in in order that millions of Euros of illegal betting can take place.

7 Slovenian games were due to be looked into as part of the investigation but only one (UEFA Europa League third qualifying round: NK IB Ljubljana-FC Metalurh Donetsk, 06.08.2009) is being investigated for now.
