Between 7 and 21 April the main Slovenian Airport, Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport, was closed to air traffic because of reconstruction of the runway. The airport will be open again to all traffic today at 8PM.

If the air traffic is actually going to start also depends on the movement of volcanic ash or a decision of the Slovenian authorities to open airspace.

The renovation costed around 10 milion euros, increasing security of 3300 meters long and 60 meters wide runway. The runway was last renovated 18 years ago.

During the renovation the majority of traffic was rerouted to the Maribor and Trieste Airport. EasyJet, CSA Czech Airlines, Montenegro Airlines and Jat Airways canceled their flights during this time.
