Slovenian minister of education and sports, Igor Lukšič and president of the International Ski Federation FIS, Gian-Franco Kasper, officially opened the XXI. FIS Ski Flying World Championships in Planica.At the end of a season with many highlights there's still something special on the schedule of the ski jumpers: The world's best ski flyer will be crowned on the world's biggest hill in Planica on Saturday. 239m is the current hill and world record, so the fans are likely to see many flights over 200m; spectacle and excitement is hence guaranteed. In addition, there will be Slovenian music and a true festival of fans.
Kasai won the qualification
Noriaki Kasai won the qualification round with 210.5 meters. Second was Antonin Hajek from Czech Republic and the third place goes to Polish Kamil Stoch with 201.5 meters. Björn Einar Romören, world record holder, made the best jump with 230.5 meters.
The best on training was Hajek with 228,5 meters. Qualification winner, Noriaki Kasai was very happy today: "I'm very satisfied. I made very good jump in front of fantastic public. Tomorrow I will try to win and bet Ammann," said Kasai.
Live Streaming from Planica available
EBU, the TV rights holder for the FIS Ski Flying World Championships Planica 2010, is going to live stream all the events from the Planica event starting from Thursday's qualification event.
