Description:
Slovenian sports goods manufacturer Elan has developed a brand new concept of touring skis. The world lightest ski weighs only 700 grammes, measuring 165 centimetres in length and 66 millimetres in width and are named after Slovenia's highest peak, Triglav.
Elan's winter division department developed the new pair of skis in cooperation with climber and extreme skier Davo Karnicar, best known for as the first man to ski down the highest peaks of all the world's seven continents in 2006.
Elan used waveflex technology, which gives the ski an extremely light form that remains stable in curves.
Listing the assets of the new pair of skis, Elan points to better energy efficiency, better safety, more flexibility and better endurance. The thinness of the skis will give the skier an edge mainly in competitive off-trail skiing, affording better control and less strain on uneven surfaces.
