TREBNJE CASTLE:
The castle was build around 1000 and was first mentioned in 1386. It is situated on the right bank of the Temenica above the expressway. Its original owners were the Lords of Trebnje from Carinthia, and later it became the property of the Otenburgs the Counts of Celje, the Hapsburgs... The Stična monastery, which bought the castle in 1699, owned it for thirty years. In 1812, Friderik Baraga got the castle from his father and kept it until 1824. The castle retains some of its ancient parts: the square tower that has Roman foundations, the round tower with a secret exit from the period of Turkish raids, and the left and right wings of a building from the beginning of the 16th century.
