Description:
Braslovče is a municipality in Slovenia in former Lower Styria. As of the 2002 census, Braslovče had 4,933 inhabitants. Braslovče was first documented in 1140 AD. In the second half of the 14th century Braslovče was granted the rights of a market town by the Counts of Cilli. The parish church, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, was mentioned for the first time in 1255.
Braslovce plazed an important historical role in this region's development. This somewhat idyllic market borough grew along a river terrace between the Dobrovlje Plateau and Savinja. In the 12th century the area was acquired bz the Zovnek feudal lords, later become the powerful Counts of Cilli (Celje), who built their family home, Zovnek Castle some 3 km to the southwest of the village. Braslovce's erstwhile importance is further confirmed bz the earlz establishment of its parish; first mentioned in 1140 it was created from part of Zalec seminal parish.
