From as long as the 13th century, Portorož has been known as a health resort. Historical sources report on how the Benedictine monks, from the monastery of St Lawrence, used to heal rheumatism, obesity and dropsy with sea water and brine. An important role in preserving this old tradition was later played by the newly built Palace hotel with its thermal baths.

Today we carry on the tradition of health resort tourism by offering and implementing preventive health care, recreational, beauty and wellness programmes. We have , moreover, successfully merged the natural healing qualities of this littoral destination,  the Mediterranean climate and the tradition of the salt pans of Sečovlje together with the wisdom from the Far East.

Terme Portorož & Medical Wellness

The Terme Portorož & Medical Wellness is a renowned Slovenian health resort, centre of health, beauty and general wellness, where the age old tradition of thalassotherapy intertwines with the modern medical knowledge.
It is unique thanks to five local natural medicinal factors, which are employed in relaxation, beauty and therapeutic treatments: salt pan mud – fango, brine – Acqua Madre, climate, the sea and thermomineral water.

Sauna Park
Take a walk through Sauna Park and start each day in an extraordinarily fresh way. Due to its exceptionally rich and diverse offer, the Sauna Park of the Terme & Wellness LifeClass is considered to be a unique sauna complex in Europe. On 1,000 m² there are seven different types of sauna: Thalasso sauna, salt steam sauna, Moorish steam bath and Finnish sauna; various relaxation areas, Kneipp’s brook and baths, whirlpool, chromotherapy, massage-cascades, ice cave...

Two of the major attractions of the Sauna Park are the ice cave, which is the first of its kind to appear in Slovenia, and the salt steam sauna, especially important as it uses the salt from the salt pans of Sečovlje which has been produced naturally and in exactly the same way, since the 13th century.

The Wai Thai, traditional Thai massage and natural face and body care centre, offers a wide range of wellness programmes which are performed by Thai expert practitioners.

Swimming Pools

One can benefit from the healing properties just by swimming or by leisurely immersing oneself in the swimming pools with heated sea water or the swimming pools with thermomineral water. Or one can simply enjoy the effects of underwater massages, cascades, water currents and whirlpools, or enjoy the tranquillity of an authentic rocky cavern.
