Let it snow
Yesterday, it took us all by surprise, there was a first snow in Slovenia, first for 10 years...no, just kidding...this year.:). In the morning, when I woke up I noticed a funny light through my window...had to check it out and saw all the land covered with snow...about 20 centimeters of it. It is usually later in the year that snow happens but anyway. I said that it all took us by surprise...well...some of my friends stayed at home and didn't go to work because they still had summer tyres on their cars (the law says you have to change it before 15th of November and each year we all wait until the until last day...typical!). And with the reputation the Slovenes have as drivers it's probably best not to go anywhere if your car is not winter primed:). Accordingingly, there was chaos on the roads...everybody driving at 20 kmph, hitting the brakes for every single thing etc...it took my friend about an hour to drove 30km !!On the other hand, I was excited to see the snow...why...I love to play with my dog in winter time when is freezing outside and everything is coverd with snow. First of all, if we play fetch, Kika (my dog) is looking for stick buried in the snow for such a long time, I could easily take a quick nap. This makes her so tired (without me doing anything) and afterwards she looks like a Yeti with all the snow on her beard. And second, and most important, the kids love it. All playing outside, building snowmen, throwing snow balls...it makes everything come alive in the winter time. And yes, it announces the beginning of winter with cinnamon cookies and spiced wine, the anticipation of Christmas and New year and a lot of partying in December:)...and we all love that.
